About Us

Sunburst is 100% owned by John Skrobela. John has over 20 years of intensive experience working closely with small and mid-sized businesses, particularly those that are established and are in growth mode or looking for expansion capital. Throughout his career, he has utilized his background in accounting and financial analysis to provide an array of high-value services to clients, whether working in a consulting and planning capacity, serving as a director of business and financial management in the private sector, or underwriting requests for funding and determining risk and overall deal structures for lending institutions. His work has helped Sunburst build detailed financial models and forecasts and has been instrumental in shaping client strategy and providing critical access to capital. Sunburst’s collaborative work with regional financial institutions and alternative lenders has helped many business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs line up the capital needed to either start their venture or accelerate further development.

John is a Business Certified Appraiser, credentialed to perform business valuations through the International Society of Business Appraisers. His appraisal work has facilitated successful exits for business owners and has been part of transition or acquisition plans for new ownership. John is also a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, a Certified Fathom Advisor, and holds the Accountant Certification on the Bill platform.  Partnership with Bill enables Sunburst to expertly manage all regular accounting functions and cash flow across multiple apps on behalf of clients.

When not working with his clients at Sunburst, John spends time with his wife, two children, and dog in Albany, NY. He received his BS in Business Management from State University of New York Geneseo and his MA in History from University at Albany.
